Drone Pilot Practice Exam - Practice Test & Study Guide

The correct approach regarding flying a drone over a large crowd at a concert is informed by safety regulations and guidelines for drone operations. When filming in such environments, there are specific rules that prioritize the safety of individuals on the ground.

Drones are considered unmanned aircraft, and their operation presents risks to people, especially in populated areas. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) places restrictions on flying drones over people unless certain conditions are met, which typically involves ensuring that appropriate safety measures are in place. These measures are designed to prevent accidents in the event of drone failure or loss of control.

Therefore, operating a drone over a crowd is generally prohibited. The circumstances that would allow for drone flights over a gathering would usually involve comprehensive risk assessments and mitigations specific to the situation, which are often not feasible at large public events like concerts. This highlights the imperative nature of safety in drone operation, especially in densely populated locations.
